FSC

Today, the green economy generates $1.3 trillion in annual sales revenue, arguably being the fastest growing economy in the world. The focus on environmental and social values world-wide requires products that have their origin in the natural environment meet international standards as those set by the credible bodies. In particular, larger corporate companies wish to avoid reputational damage due to poor environmental and social practices and thus protect themselves and other businesses in the chain by seeking certification from credible bodies providing this service.

WHO is FSC

Since being founded in 1993, the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) has grown to become the world’s most respected and widespread forest certification system. FSC's leadership position is further reinforced by the strong support from the world's recognized NGOs such as WWF and Friends of the Earth. Maintaining and consolidating this leading position means regular updating of the existing systems and further promote and grow across the green industry. FSC also demands constant awareness of cutting-edge issues in a context of rapid economic and environmental change, and the capacity to extend existing partnerships and alliances and build new ones.

TYPE of FSC

Forest Management Certification

FSC forest management certification confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability. There are ten principles that any forest operation must adhere to before it can receive FSC forest management certification. These principles cover a broad range of issues, from maintaining high conservation values to community relations and workers’ rights, as well as monitoring the environmental and social impacts of the forest management.

WHAT are FSC principles

We strictly adhere to the 10 Principles and 70 Criteria of FSC in our forests. These are

  • Principle #1: Compliance with laws
  • Principle #2: Workers' rights and employment conditions
  • Principle #3: Indigenous peoples’ rights
  • Principle #4: Community relations
  • Principle #5: Benefits from the forest
  • Principle #6: Environmental values and impact
  • Principle #7: Management planning
  • Principle #8: Monitoring and assessment
  • Principle #9: High conservation values
  • Principle #10: Implementation of management activities

Chain of Custody Certification

FSC chain of custody certification provides credible confirmation for products with environmentally and socially responsible sources to access the market.

FSC chain of custody certification verifies that FSC-certified material has been identified and separated from non-certified and non-controlled material as it makes its way along the supply chain, from the forest to the market.

To achieve chain of custody certification, your business must meet the FSC-STD-40-004 Chain of Custody Certification standard.

All sizes and organizational structures are possible for chain of custody certification, including single-site, multi-site, and groups of organizations, enabling certification cost optimization.

Type of FSC LOGO

FSC 100%

All the materials used in products bearing this label are sourced from forests that have been audited by an independent third party to confirm they are managed according to FSC’s rigorous social and environmental standards. Of all the FSC labels, FSC 100% contributes most directly to FSC’s objective—forests for all, forever—and is therefore the highest mark of distinction for certified products.

FSC RECYCLED

Products that bear this label have been verified as being made from 100% recycled content (either post-consumer or pre-consumer reclaimed materials). The use of FSC Recycled products can help to alleviate the pressure of demand on sources of virgin material, thereby helping to protect the world’s forests.

FSC MIX

Products that bear this label are made using a mixture of materials from FSC-certified forests, recycled materials, and/or FSC controlled wood. While controlled wood is not from FSC certified forests, it mitigates the risk of the material originating from unacceptable sources.

FSC labels can be found on millions of products around the world: from toilet roll to your favorite book, that milk carton in your fridge, other food products and even MEDICAL GLOVES. What does it all mean? Simply put, all of our labels provide you with an assurance that the product you are buying is made from responsible sources and have been verified to meet FSC’s strict environmental and social standards.

WHY should you choose products with FSC logo

  • FSC logo ensure transparent source of raw material
  • FSC logo ensure trees that are harvested are replace and allowed to regenerate
  • FSC logo ensure that parts of the forest are protected entirely, in order to protect rare animal and plants.
  • FSC is the only wood certification scheme endorsed by the major environmental charities, including WWF, Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust.
  • FSC protects the rights of indigenous people to use the forest. If they have sacred sites in the forest these are exempt from felling.
  • FSC gives an assurance that future generations will be able to enjoy the benefits of the forest.
  • The forest owner must use local workers to run the forest, and provide training, safety equipment and a decent salary. The forest owner is often obliged to support the community in other ways, such as through the development of schools.
  • FSC is a market-based initiative which also ensures better conditions for the forest and the people whose livelihoods depend on it.
  • All the wood is tracked from the forest to the store. Every link between the forest and the consumer is certified to make it clearly identifiable which wood is FSC certified and which is not.
  • The FSC label is found on wood and paper products as well as non-timber forest products such as latex.

STA Group and FSC

Sri Trang Group are proud to be the world's first fully integrated Rubber Company to certify FSC for the whole of our LATEX supply chain from up- stream to down-stream in 2019, i.e. for the farms where the trees produce latex, the latex collection points, the concentrated Latex factories, the Examination Gloves factories and finally to the shelves for sale. Sri Trang is 100% committed to selling responsibly produced products that meet the high standards set by the FSC. This truly make Sri Trang’s products highly sustainable.

Glove and FSC

“Rubber gloves are associated with almost every aspect of human life since the time we’re born. A baby in the delivery room is secure in the hands of doctors and nurses wearing rubber gloves. What’s more, cooks, cleaners, staff in science labs, manufacturing of many products and even lifestyle applications like tattoo artists have to wear gloves. With the ‘Touch Of Life’ concept, our company wants to satisfy the needs of all markets in all aspects. Aside from human rights and animal rights, the environment today is a fundamental to the survival of human kind and responsible companies will continue to focus on the protection of soil, water and biodiversity.
