Sri Trang Group concerned for Thai people facing new Covid-19 outbreak Launches ‘Sri Trang Group Sharing Love to Communities Year 2’

project To donate 4.5 million latex examination gloves throughout the year

The Sri Trang Group of Companies is doing its part to help the country and Thai people to overcome the new Covid-19 outbreak by launching another CSR project. Called “Sri Trang Group Sharing Love to Communities Year 2”, the project aims to donate 4.5 million latex examination gloves to the public through provincial governors, the Ministry of Public Health and related agencies throughout this year, piloting in provinces where Sri Trang has manufacturing facilities and later expanding to other provinces.

Mr. Veerasith Sinchareonkul, Executive Director of Sri Trang Agro-Industry Pcl. or STA, the world’s leading fully Integrated Green Rubber Company, reveals that the Sri Trang Group of Companies, comprising Sri Trang Agro-Industry Pcl., Sri Trang Gloves (Thailand) Pcl. or STGT, and subsidiaries, is appreciative of the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Therefore, one of its policies is to implement CSR projects to conserve the environment and serve the society and communities in line with the ESG criteria of sustainability. The company thus far has continuously implemented more than 200 projects to improve the quality of life of community members.

As Covid-19 continues to spread since the outbreak began over a year ago, a large number of people have been infected, and suffered. The Sri Trang Group has been aware of the need to get involved and lend a hand. It has now launched the “Sri Trang Group Sharing Love to Communities Year 2” project, a continuation of the project first carried out last year.

Aiming to show support for and solidarity with communities and the society at large, the project last year donated gloves for medical purposes to provincial governors, the Ministry of Public Health as well as a wide range of organizations, including hospitals, field hospitals, health and hygiene centers, foundations, vaccine inoculation stations, places of worship, prisons and various social service centers. Donations also included items of necessity, such as relief packages, food packages, bottled water, and personal protective equipment. In addition, the project carried out an anti-virus disinfection program, spraying disinfectant not only within the company’s compounds but in communities around the plants as well.

The Sri Trang Group is continuing with the second phase of the project this year. More donations of latex examination gloves will be made to multiple provinces, amounting to at least 4.5 million pieces. The items will be delivered first to provinces where the company has its branches and manufacturing plants and Bangkok and then to the rest of the provinces.

“We wish to express our intention to stand by the Thai people and help them overcome the Covid-19 crisis,” Mr. Veerasith says.

“The Sri Trang Group Sharing Love to Communities Year 2 project is our way of expressing our concern for the medical personnel and front-line workers in the fight against Covid-19 as well as people impacted by the pandemic. We lend our support in various ways. We donate medical-grade latex gloves, which are crucial items in preventing the spread of infections, giving care to patients and vaccinating people.

“We want to ensure our donations reach as many organizations involved in fighting the disease as possible to help reduce infections. We also want to make sure that our gloves will be sold at reasonable prices so that they will be affordable to the wider public.”

Meanwhile, Ms. Jarinya Jirojkul, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Trang Gloves (Thailand) Pcl. or STGT, a major global producer of latex and nitrile gloves, reports that between January 1 and June 25 of this year, the Sri Trang Group Sharing Love to Communities Year 2 project has already donated 1.6 million gloves to multiple organizations and provinces. The activities are an expression of Sri Trang Group’s intent to play a part in helping the Thai society to overcome the current Covid-19 outbreak, which is consonant with STGT’s conception of its role to “protect every touch with care for all lives in the world”.

As such, the company will deliver donations of latex examination gloves to various provinces in a continuing fashion through the Sri Trang Group project, which will be carried out throughout the year, to ensure effective prevention of the disease. It is hoped that the project will promote better hygiene, reduce risks from infections and prevent the spread of the virus to help the Thai people to overcome the Covid-19 crisis.
