On July 13, 2026, Sri Trang Gloves (Thailand) Public Company Limited, or STGT, Thailand’s leading manufacturer and distributor of natural and nitrile rubber gloves, announced the launch of the project “Sri Trang Green Steps: Creating Value from Waste Rubber Gloves for the Development of Children and Youth's Potential” which transforms used rubber gloves into new value for society and the environment. The initiative aims to use resources worthily and efficiently by transforming waste into value, alongside creating benefits according to the Circular Economy concept.
The Green Steps project arose from the integrated cooperation between Sri Trang Gloves (Thailand) Public Company Limited, Oishi Group Public Company Limited, a leader in Japanese-style food and beverage business, and the Faculty of Engineering, Thaksin University, in bringing used rubber gloves from business processes back to create maximum value and benefit for society and the environment. The Faculty of Engineering, Thaksin University, closely oversees research, innovation development, and the recycling process. Our process begins with cleaning to hygienically eliminate dirt and residues from the rubber gloves, including sorting by separating materials according to the quality level and condition of the rubber gloves, followed by recycling. The Faculty of Engineering co-researched and developed a production formula that minimizes chemical use while maximizing the proportion of reused rubber gloves to truly create value from waste.
From the implementation of the project, used rubber gloves was successfully processed to add value into rubber floor mats for an indoor sports training field covering an area of 70 square meters to deliver to Kanjandit School, Surat Thani Province, for use in developing sports skills and promoting the well-being of youth.
In addition to community support benefits, this project also helps reduce industrial waste, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from traditional waste disposal, and reflects the commitment of all sectors to tangibly drive environmental sustainability.
