Sri Trang commissions latest facility in Thailand's Chumphon province

Thai glove producer Sri Trang Gloves, which has a secondary listing on the SGX Mainboard, has commissioned its latest facility in Thailand’s Chumphon province, bringing the total number of facilities to 13.

The new facility was set up in a bid to strengthen the group’s ability to meet the robust global demand for latex gloves.

It also comes shortly after Sri Trang’s facilities in Trang and Songkhla began production in February and March.

Sri Trang had also opened three other facilities in Songkhla and Surat Thani in 2021.

According to the company, the Chumphon facility has completed its first production dip and is expected to produce 13 billion gloves a year when all 36 production lines are fully operational in the first quarter of 2024.

By the end of 2022, Sri Trang expects to complete 16 of these production lines, representing a capacity of 5.8 billion gloves.

Its annual installed production capacity is expected to reach 48 billion pieces.

Environmental focus

The new facility in Chumphon has implemented a new water recycling system to reduce water consumption as part of Sri Trang’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The facility also helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by relying on biomass energy to produce low carbon emission gloves.

Shares in Sri Trang closed 1 cent lower or 0.99% down at $1 on March 28.
